My Bio...
A little bit of my history.
Julie Watson
I was born at Georgia Baptist Hospital on Boulevard near Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthplace, which was vibrant and magical and grew up in Atlanta’s Midtown during the ‘60s and ‘70s around hippies. I also spent the summers with my grandparents and cousins in rural Rome, Georgia, with deep southern traditions. These cultural extremes have greatly influenced my work.
I have spent my life creating all media of artworks from functional art to watercolors and have shown and sold my work on both coasts of the United States in various boutique stores.
I pursued an education in fine arts at Young Harris College, a small private school in the remote North Georgia mountains, then graduated from the Portfolio Center in Atlanta with a graphic design degree. I followed that with a successful award-winning career in Art Direction.
I continue to explore my style of nature-based, psychedelic, tribal, and sometimes gothic art through all types of media. I also continue to do graphic design as warranted on a freelance basis where I reside in the North Georgia Mountains. My artwork is not only physical but also spiritual. I strive to capture the emotions and memories of my viewer by portraying my true essence.
